Handweaving in Donegal is an ancient skill developed long before the beginning of Magee in 1866. Today Magee continues the old traditions of weaving using modern methods. However these jackets are designed in the mill with yarn and pattern details then sent out to skilled craftsmen, weaving in their own homes the designs which are inspired by tradition. The colourful fabric is strongly inspired by the ever changing Irish land and sea-scapes. A traditional salt and pepper cloth in a rich navy and peaty brown base speckled with blue, orange, yellow and green.
