Also known as a Shillelagh, this Blackthorn walking stick is crafted from solid Irish hazel and covered with a thick coat of black paint with one end shaped into a handle. It is the classic Irish walking stick. The perfect companion for any walk.

This blackthorn walking stick is identical to that which was handcrafted for President Kennedy, President Ronald Reagan, President Bill Clinton and Tip O’Neill on their historical visits to Ireland.

It’s beautiful and I love it but I didn’t realise the handle had been joined so worry about it coming apart although nothing to show this might happen. I’d still highly recommend. It’s the perfect design and as a 164cm woman, it’s great for me.

Blackthorn walking stick exceeded my expectations , solid, sturdy, usable not only as a cane but, in extremis, as a cudgel. It's just about an inch taller than would be strictly comfortable for a person of my height ,¬†height adjustment wasn't, as far as I could tell, an option at purchase , but I can make do.
