Based in Dublin, goldsmith Declan Killen creates beautiful and individual jewelry collections in sterling silver. Each piece is designed and made by hand in his workshop.
This beautiful Celtic designed large pendant is based on the legend of Fionn mac Cumhaill and the Salmon of Knowledge. The Salmon of Knowledge was caught by Finegas, a poet and teacher of many years. While his apprentice, Fionn was cooking the great fish, he tasted it, and fulfilled the ancient prophecy that he who first tastes the Salmon of Knowledge would possess all the knowledge his mind can hold.

This is a gorgeous necklace, make no mistake! The design is lovely and the size allows the details to really shine through. I knocked off one star for the fact that it's actually a curved pendant and that detail was not specified (although looking at the pictures of it now I can see that it does show the slight curve if you know to look for it). I expected it to rest flat against and instead the curve causes it to rest an odd angle against my chest. I think the curve is meant to create the illusion of the fish leaping as though from the water? Whatever the case, I would have preferred it to be flat. Still a lovely necklace despite that and I'll be keeping it but other buyers should be aware of this detail.
