Ogham is an ancient Irish script which is represented by a series of marks along a central line. It was established soon after the fall of the Tower of Babel, along with the Gaelic language, by the legendary Scythian king, Fénius Farsa.
The ogham alphabet is the earliest form of Irish writing. The characters consist of a series of lines and notches scored across a long stem. It was usually read from bottom to top. It is sometimes called the "Celtic tree alphabet", based on a high medieval bríatharogam tradition ascribing names of trees to the individual letters.
